HIROSHIMA Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin made an unannounced visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on Aug. 4, two days before this city hosts a service dedicated to victims of the atomic bombing.
The ambassador thanked the Japanese MP for his work on expanding the bilateral inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation in trade, culture, sport, and youth exchange.
The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Japan in cooperation with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI). It was timed to coincide with the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On 22 June, Belarus commemorates the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War. On this day 81 years ago the country faced the horrors of World War II. Belarus lost more than 3 million of its residents, or every third.
