A stacked field led to some brisk marks as Notre Dame’s Nuguse outkicked Oregon’s Cooper Teare and Cole Hocker to capture the McChesney 1500 in 3:35.96, just 0.01 seconds ahead of Teare in 3:35.97 and 0.51 seconds in front of Hocker in 3:36.47. ....

The assault on the all-time performance list continued well into the second day of competition at the
2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Bailey Wins 5000, No. 2 Performer All-Time
Lauren Bailey took the race from the gun and didn’t look back.
The senior from UIndy captured the 5000 title in 16:03.98, shattering the previous meet record by nearly 2.5 seconds. Bailey also became the No. 2 performer all-time in NCAA Division II history.
Swoopes Dominant In Shot Put Victory
Zada Swoopes was unstoppable in the shot put.
Swoopes won the shot put competition on her third attempt of the day with a heave of 17.48m (57-4¼) to ultimately win the competition by more than five feet. Her throw moves her up to No. 3 all-time in NCAA DII history. ....

2021 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Regional Award Winners ::: USTFCCCA


 
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Many of these honored athletes and coaches are headed to the 
2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Birmingham, Alabama.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Year
ATLANTIC REGION – Julian Griffin – Wheeling
Griffin, a freshman from Lebanon, Ohio, is ranked first regionally in the 60H at 8.28.
CENTRAL REGION – Ryan Riddle – Missouri Southern
Riddle, a sophomore from Webb City, Missouri, is ranked third nationally in the mile at 4:01.07. He is also ranked 20th nationally in the 5000 at 14:09.72. Riddle earned the MIAA High Point Award at the conference championships with victories in the mile and 3000 as well as runner-up effort in the 5000. ....
