Now, our favorite alien angel has revealed that she’s officially updated the album artwork for her most recent album, Miss Anthropocene. Released last February, the record features singles like “My Name Is Dark” and “Violence” and was the last album she dropped before giving birth to her baby boy, X Æ A-12. But apparently, she was never fully happy with the cover. ....

Claire Boucher recently shared a brand new track with the Cyberpunk 2077 game, and returns to The originally released artwork was designed by GMUNK and Ryder Ripps, but this has now been replaced by a painting from Rupid Leejm. The alteration was made across the weekend, and seemingly reflects her original intentions. In an Instagram post back in April she wrote: “This was the original Miss Anthropocene album cover which I commissioned from one of my favourite artists (Rupid Leejm). I polled a bunch of ppl and everyone said not to use it (??) but I wish I trusted my gut. I fucking LOVE this painting.” ....

The artwork that now appears across streaming platforms was the musician’s original choice, commissioned from one of her “favourite artists”, Rupid Leejm. Back in April, Grimes explained that she swapped out Leejm’s artwork after she “polled a bunch of ppl and everyone said not to use it,” adding: “but I wish I trusted my gut.” The cover on release day was instead designed by GMUNK and Ryder Ripps. “I love what we did w Ryder and Gmunk,” says Grimes. “Not hating on that just wish I’d even kept this as the illustration in the program.” Grimes has recently collaborated with Ryder Ripps again, on a new art and merch drop with Maccarone Gallery (which previously hosted the 2020 show where she sold a “fraction of her soul”). ....

It s been a robust nine months since Grimes unleashed her fifth LP Miss Anthropocene, one of our favorite records of the year. When it was initially released, the album was emblazoned with an image of the software the new Gods use to design the simulation â something like an apocalyptic Photoshop. Now, that artwork has been swapped out on all streaming platforms, and replaced with a painting by artist Rupid Leejm.
