good morning and welcome to news4 midday i m mol issa molette. and i m eun yang. we begin with the lates overseas following the devastating fire at the cat thedral of notre dame. the fire was extinguished but firefighters are on stand by and the france president vows it will be icbuilt. rhard engle reports from paris. reporter: the cathedral of notre dame still stands. but without her elegant spire. burned away by a devastating fire. for me, notre dame isma as as for americans, it is a mother. and suddenly you feel your h mother been hurt by the fire. reporter: while an investigation is still ongoing, french officials are so far calling the blaze unintentional. they suspect it started around 6:30 monday night among skafl folding at the base of the fire. but the flames spread quickly across the medieval roo made of so many timbers it was nicknamed the forest. the heat kept building and rising until oh, my god,tehele just fell inside of the church. oh, my god.
