KUCHING: Sarawak s cumulative total of Covid-19 cases crossed the 30,000 mark as 760 new cases and five deaths were recorded on Friday (April 30).
The state disaster management committee said Bintulu and Kapit districts reported triple-digit cases with 202 and 156 respectively.
It said 89% of Bintulu s cases were close contacts of Covid-19 patients, including 90 from Rumah Siba longhouse and 47 from Rumah Lampoh. Both longhouses have been in lockdown since April 22 and 24 when the first positive cases were detected, the committee said in a statement on Friday.
Similarly, 87% of the cases in Kapit comprised close contacts, including 45% from two longhouses in lockdown.
Other districts which reported new cases were Miri (80), Sibu (58), Kanowit (33), Subis and Kuching (32 each), Pakan (29), Selangau (26), Song (24) and Meradong (15).
