The force has provided more details about Wednesday s fatal incident on the Lizard peninsula, adding the victim was a 20-month-old girl from the Nottingham area. ....
Firefighters have spent the afternoon fighting gorse fires on the Lizard Peninsula and remain out there this evening. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said that the second of two fires today was had the potential to threaten houses in the Gwenter area as it advanced. Fire crews are said to have put a contingency in place to protect the properties as they fought to put out the nearby flames. The incident, between Kennack Sands and Ponsongath, was still ongoing at 6.15pm. A fire service spokesperson said: Crews were involved in protecting two properties which could have been threatened by the advancing gorse fire. ....
