A STRUGGLING pensioner whose emaciated female rottweiler had to be put down after being found with a maggot-infested foot has faced prosecution for failing to properly care for the dog.
Appearing before Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence, Sindy Rose Hall, 52, from One Mile, pleaded guilty to failing to treat an animal in her care with the required medical help under the Animal Care and Protection Act.
RSPCA prosecutor Vanessa Lyons said the offence occurred between October 26, 2019 and December 23, 2019.
In facts before the court, RSPCA inspectors received information four days before Christmas 2019 that the dog, named Sassie, had a leg injury that had been left untreated. ....

A BUSY professional couple was this week found to have left their pet staghound cross so underfed that its ribs and pelvic bones were sticking out of its lethargic and emaciated body.

On Friday they went before Ipswich Magistrates Court for sentence, where it was heard they had owned Bella for six years.
Damien O Connor, 37, from Collingwood Park and Ashtika O Connor, 25, both pleaded guilty to failing to feed Bella, a female Staghound cross type dog in June 2020; and breaching their duty of care by failing to provide appropriate living conditions between June 7 and June 23 last year. ....

'You completely failed in your duty to care for a pet'

A Slade Point mother has been labelled completely irresponsible in a horror animal negligence case that involved a skeletal, flea-riddled dog named Angel and her puppies that were slowly dying from malnourishment.
When the RSPCA visited the Amhurst St home a number of times in January 2020, Michelle Lee Pomfrett said inspectors could take Angel but she refused to give up eight 2.5-week-old puppies.
Mackay Magistrates Court heard the animals were confined to a room with no access to food and water.
Angel had given birth to a number of puppies who were not being taken care of.
In fact Pomfrett, who receives Centrelink payments, had previously told police she did not have enough money to buy food for Angel, who had been surviving off scraps being thrown over the fence. ....
