A journal has retracted a 2019 article by a Monash University academic after a university investigation ruled the senior research fellow plagiarised a student’s work.
According to a spokesperson, Monash University launched an investigation into Dr Padma Murthi — a senior research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology — after receiving “a complaint from a student about potential plagiarism by a supervisor”.

The plans have been adjusted a bit for virtual participation, but all systems are go for Research Week 2021 at Duke, Jan. 25-29.
This first-ever event will include the inaugural Ingrid Daubechies Lecture and updates from Duke researchers working on the frontiers of political science, Covid, Quantum computing, CRISPR gene editing and artificial intelligence. Participants can earn some Responsible Conduct of Research training credits and hear a sampling of work from our students and postdocs.
The Office of Research, which is hosting the event, will also be unveiling a powerful new platform for research planning and administration, myRESEARCHsuite. ....

Last month, a new COVID-19 saliva-based testing strategy for the Penn community was launched. Developed through a partnership between Penn Medicine, Wellness at Penn, and the Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI), the testing infrastructure established as part of the “Project Quaker” program is now ready to conduct 40,000 saliva-based COVID-19 screening tests each week and is a key component of safely repopulating campus during the spring semester. ....

The National Science Foundation (NSF) requires that each institution submitting a proposal certify that it has a plan to provide appropriate training and oversight in the ethical conduct of research to all undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers who will be supported by NSF to conduct research. The institutions are responsible for verifying that the training has been received. This is in accordance with the 2007 America COMPETES Act.
