Just a few days later, on March 10, Sue Peterchalk was born to Eastern European immigrant parents in Portage, Pennsylvania. Peterchalk, now a Parma resident, is the city’s newest centenarian. She received a proclamation recently from Parma City Council President Sean Brennan. Ward 9 Councilman Roy Jech also signed the proclamation. ....
Discount Drug Mart purchases former State Road Elementary School land in Parma Updated Jan 29, 2021; Facebook Share PARMA, Ohio Decades after Funk’s Food City closed, the intersection of State and Grantwood roads will once again boast a grocery store. This week, it was announced that Discount Drug Mart was the winning bidder at $725,000 to purchase the former State Road Elementary School site from the Parma City Schools. “We’re excited to join the Parma community,” said Discount Drug Mart Government Affairs Director Steve Ferris, who expects the new store to open in 2022. “We’ve wanted to build a store there for many years. We believe this is a perfect location.” ....

Spearheaded by Ward 9 Councilman Roy Jech, council members hope to see the holiday spirit continue during the cold and challenging months ahead.
