Barbara Ann Rowan, Who Spurred Advances for Black Lawyers, Dies at 82
As a lawyer she protested a racial slur during a bar association speech after forging a trail as a federal prosecutor in Manhattan. She died of Covid-19.
Barbara Ann Rowan was sworn in as an assistant U.S. attorney in Manhattan by Whitney North Seymour, Jr., the U.S. attorney. She was the first Black woman in that position in the Southern District of New York.Credit.via Rowan family
