Rotary Club hands over $250,000 surgery equipment to foundation

Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate has handed over modern surgical equipment worth $250,000 (Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars) to Indo Eye Foundation, the caretaker of the biggest Eye Hospital in Africa to carry out cataract surgery in Nigeria.
At the event which took place in the Eye hospital located along Murtala Mohammed International Airport, the President of the Club, Chandra Nalode handed over the equipment to the Project Manager, Indo Eye Foundation, Rotarian Mukesh Bhatt. The surgical equipment was procured with Rotary Global Grant with the support of Rotary Club of Singapore, Rotary District 9110, Rotary District 3310, Rotary District 3110 and Rotary District 1175. ....

Obasanjo Charges Rotarians on Service to Society

The former President Olusegun Obasanjo has charged Rotarians to continue to grow membership, stating that it is important to find the right people who have the passion to carry on the Rotary International services to humanity and support the Rotary Foundation.
He disclosed this recently at the Rotary International – 39th District 9110 Conference, Tagged: ‘Opportunities DisCon 2021.’
A statement by the Rotary International said the 39 District conference and award programmes was extremely a successful event, due to a number of things.
The statement further explained that Rotarian Bola Oyebade, Past President Abiodun Oshinibosi, Chairman, District Conference Committee 2021 and his team were still able to organise a wonderful 2021 District Conference at Abeoukuta, the Ogun State capital from May, 27-30 with the theme: ‘Opportunities Discon 2021.’ ....

Rotary Club of Lagos was established 60 years ago on May 1, 1961, the same year Rotary International came to Nigeria. President of the club (2020-2021), who is also the Captain of over 116 Presidents in District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Rotarian Dare Adeyeri spoke to ISAAC TAIWO on his tenure, the celebration, the club’s activities over the years and impact of Rotary on governance and nation building.
Congratulations on the 60th anniversary of Rotary Club of Lagos. What’s the plan for celebration? Is it going to be virtual considering we are still in a pandemic?
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has told us that we can now dance, however, he warns us to be careful and limit our gathering to 500 people. This is the oldest Rotary Club in the District; we have eminent people and achievers in their businesses or professions who have passed through the Club, including the late Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, Adeye ....

Rotary Club of Akowonjo Clocks 35

As Rotary International marks its 116 years this week, one of its affiliate clubs, Rotary Club of Akowonjo rolled out the drums on Monday to celebrate her 35 years in the service of humanity.
The well-attended celebration which held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, venue of the club’s weekly fellowship, saw many of the club’s past presidents being honoured and decorated for keeping the club’s flag flying for over three decades.
Speaking passionately at the event, a Charter member, Rotary Past Assistant Governor (Dr.) Olukayode Akinlade, went memory lane and espoused the various sacrifices members have made in ensuring that the club continued to remain relevant in the comity of Rotary clubs worldwide. ....

Rotary Club of Falomo donates wheel chairs to FAAN

At a hand-over ceremony held at the Authority’s Headquarters Liaison in Lagos, the Managing Director of FAAN, who was represented by the General Manager, Environment, Mr. Nehemiah Auta expressed his heart-felt appreciation to the club for their benevolence.
He noted that the Rotary club globally is known for a strong culture of corporate social responsibility wherever they are domicile, and also appealed to other corporate organizations and non-governmental organizations alike to emulate their kind act, assuring that the Authority will ensure that the chairs are put to good use.
The District Governor of the club, Rotarian Bola Oyebade, who presented the chairs to FAAN alongside the club’s President, Rotarian Peter Nwaochei and other executives, promised that they will continue to partner with the Authority to ensure the delivery of good services at the Airports.
