Aitken hoping for second chance

Jake Aitken is hoping for a second chance to race in Formula One with Williams in 2021, after being unexpectedly called up to fill in for George Russell in last year’s Sakhir Grand Prix, when the Mercedes protégé got the chance of his life as Lewis Hamilton’s sub after the World Champion became infected with COVID-19. Ironically, it was Aitken’s late spin that brought out the Safety Car period during which Mercedes’ fell apart and robbed Russell of a first Grand Prix victory, but while on track the half-Korean driver impressed his team and is hoping luck will offer him a second, more permanent chance. ....

Kevin Magnussen could be heading to Le Mans in 2022.
After losing his place in Formula 1, the Dane is embarking on a sports car adventure in the United States this year, starting with Daytona in January with the famous Chip Ganassi outfit.
But according to Auto Hebdo, the 28-year-old could re-cross the Atlantic for 2021 amid rumours Magnussen is being lined up by Peugeot s new sports car team for the new premier hypercar class.
The French magazine also named former F1 drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Paul di Resta as potential Le Mans teammates for Magnussen in 2022. ....

The imminent arrival of Davide Brivio at the helm of the renamed Alpine Formula One Team, as Renault decided to rebrand its team to give more exposure to its sports brand, has had a big impact in Italy. With Renault now led by the Italian Luca de Meo, the Italian sports media has started to adopt Alpine almost as an Italian team and with Fernando Alonso returning to Formula One with the French team, many are drawing parallels with the team’s days of glory. Back in 2005 and 2006, when, led by Flavio Briatore, Renault helped the Spaniard win his two World Championships. ....
