'Everyone is happy': Days Inn project clears final hurdle for bar operations

LENOX — All roadblocks are cleared for the new owners of the Days Inn by Wyndham on Pittsfield Road (Route 7/20) to renovate and expand the site into a boutique hotel with limited bar service and entertainment for guests. The Select Board unanimously approved an all-alcohol hotel license and an entertainment license for LH Manager Northeast LLC, leaseholder and operator for Ross Group Development LLC of Tulsa, Okla., which is purchasing the real estate for $1,950,000 from Lalji Inc. The costs of renovation, addition of five guest rooms for a total of 65 units, and the new amenities represent an investment of up to $8 million, according to Charles Snyder of the Ross Group.

Lenox ZBA OKs $10M Days Inn transformation, despite neighbors' concerns

LENOX — The town’s zoning board has approved a renovation and expansion of the Days Inn motel off Pittsfield Road (Route 7/20) by a developer under contract to purchase the property for $1,950,000, part of a proposed total investment of up to $10 million. The project would add five guest rooms to an upscaled 60-unit motel, create an enhanced lobby and registration area, and add a bar and light-fare restaurant. Ahead of the 5-0 vote, Zoning Board of Appeals member Albert Harper declared that the applicant for a revised special permit and site plan approval had demonstrated that the “community needs greatly outweigh any detrimental effect” to the Twelve Oaks Village retirement community on a hillside above the motel, built in the early 1970s as the Susse Chalet.

The inn crowd: Business partners boost holdings with purchase of two Lenox B&Bs

LENOX — Two business partners who recently purchased the historic Church Street Inn for $2.6 million have added two more downtown bed-and-breakfasts to their portfolio for a total downtown Lenox lodging industry investment of $5.5 million in March. Seth Johnson and Russell Lange spent a combined $2.9 million for the Birchwood Inn on Hubbard Street, across from the Church on the Hill just north of the business district, and for the Rookwood Inn on Old Stockbridge Road, adjacent to Town Hall. The two latest real estate transactions were recorded March 30 at the Berkshire Middle Registry of Deeds. The partners acquired all three properties through Lenox Collection LLC, an entity controlled by 388 Ventures, the New York-based company co-owned by the partners, Johnson told The Eagle.
