The large number of people who have said they are skeptical of a COVID-19 vaccine means Grand Forks County is approaching a ceiling of sorts as public health workers seek to achieve herd immunity.
A total of 21,368 county residents have been fully vaccinated as of Friday, April 16, according to data presented to Grand Forks City Council members on Monday. That’s more than halfway to the mark that public health workers believe they need to achieve herd immunity, which would mean the virus, in effect, runs out of room to spread. ....

GF mailman who helped residents escape fire is honored on ND Senate floor

A Grand Forks mailman was honored on the floor of the North Dakota Senate today (Fri).
Sen. Scott Meyer of Grand Forks took time to praise the actions of a man he called his “friend and neighbor,” Ross Brossart, who happened to see a fire brewing Tuesday at Cherry Arms Condominiums.
“Fortunately for many people there, he was delivering mail that morning, recognized the fire and he ran through the units, knocking on the doors and saving so many lives,” Meyer said.
“In fact, (some) people were (using) walkers, and many didn’t even understand there was a fire.” ....
