41-year-old man pleads guilty to multiple counts of embezzling Welfare Dept funds

GEORGE TOWN: A former community development assistant with the state Welfare Department has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of embezzlement.
Mohamed Hussain Mohamed Mydin, 41, pleaded guilty to 16 charges of failing to provide a reasonable explanation as to how he came to possess cash amounting to more than RM63,000 at two Magistrate s Courts here.
He pleaded guilty before Magistrate R. Manomani to four cases with three charges for each case under Section 29(1) of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which provides a fine of up to RM1,000 or a maximum one year in jail, or both, upon conviction.
Based on the 12 charge sheets, he was charged with failing to provide a reasonable explanation as to how he came to possess cash in his personal bank account based on deposits between July 2014 and April 2, 2016, amounting to RM52,049. ....

GEORGE TOWN: A Korean priest, who is deaf and mute, pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today to a charge of molesting a disabled man 20 years ago.
Jee Jon Hoon, 55, made the plea after the charge was read out to him by a Korean interpreter and international sign interpreter before Magistrate Rosnee Mohd Ridzuan.
The accused was alleged to have committed the act including hugging and kissing the then 30-year-old victim at a house in Gelugor in 2000.
He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if convicted. ....

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 29 A deaf and mute Korean pastor was charged with outraging the modesty of a man at the magistrate’s court here today.
This is the third outraging modesty charge the foreigner was slapped with this month.
Jee Jong Hoon, 54, was charged with outraging the modesty of a man, who was then 20 years old, by kissing him, hugging him and touching his private parts at a house in Gelugor. ....

GEORGE TOWN: A deaf mute Korean priest was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with molesting a man 20 years ago.
However, no plea was recorded from Jee Jon Hoon, 55, as the court had to get a Korean and an international sign language interpreter to make him understand the charge.
Jee was charged with molesting the man, who was then 30-years-old, in 2000 at a house at Lorong Delima 3, Gelugor 11700.
The charge, framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years, or fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if found guilty. ....
