The jokes came fast and furious. “There’s already an anti-cholent group organizing, the ‘kugelers,’” one observer quipped. “They should be careful. Cholent can have dangerous side effects,” joked another. But the lampooning didn’t stop the program, which was an unmitigated success from the start.
