Covid-19: Residents offered vaccine at rest home where 12 people died of coronavirus

About 5300 aged care residents would be vaccinated in Canterbury in total.
Rosewood manager Di Topschij said the virus had “such an impact on our little community” and it was “quite special” to see the facility’s residents being vaccinated now.
“These vaccinations mean a lot to the team here when we reflect on the personal toll of losing some of our beloved community to the virus last year.”
Twenty residents from Rosewood were temporarily moved to Burwood Hospital in April 2020 as Covid-19 spread through the facility.

Retirement village operator Arvida Group adopts strict new Covid jab hiring policy

One of New Zealand s largest retirement village and aged-care providers is making it compulsory for new staff to be vaccinated against Covid-19.
Arvida Group chief operating officer Jeremy Nicoll today confirmed anyone joining the workforce in any of its 32 facilities across the country would need to consent to be inoculated against the deadly virus.
The measure had been introduced to protect the some 5000 residents who were considered among the most vulnerable in our community.
