Statement from IHS Director Roselyn Tso on the Availability of Updated COVID-19 Vaccines

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday, September 11, 2023 approved updated Covid vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. The next day the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices approved the vaccines. The Food and Drug Administration recently authorized and approved, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended for use, the updated Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, formulated to more closely target currently circulating variants and to provide better protection against serious consequences of COVID-19.

IHS Announces Over $700 Million to Improve Drinking Water and Sewage Systems in Indian Country

More than 36,000 American Indian and Alaska Native households will benefit from $702.6 million in funding announced by the Indian Health Service (IHS) on Thursday. The funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. It will provide critical infrastructure for essential sanitation facilities throughout Indian Country, according to the IHS press release.
