The Bureau of Meteorology forecasted an increase in thunderstorm activity across both south-east Queensland and the north-east and tropical regions. The shower activity is likely to peak on Wednesday, with five to 30 millimetres possible over the central and southern coastal districts. Parts of the south-east might see falls in excess of 50 millimetres. ....
Weather Penny Hoffmann Premium Content Subscriber only BOM Meteorologist Rosa Hoff predicts this long weekend will be wet for Central Queensland and the Capricorn Coast with rainfall, some thunderstorms and cooler temperatures. Rainfall Hoff states there will be an increase in stream showers, where the showers over the ocean get pulled onto the coast thanks to south-easterly winds. This increase in rainfall will occur everywhere through Cooktown down to the border of NSW with some patchiness at times. There will also be a chance of rainfall for the Central Highlands and Coalfields that extends out to parts of the Central West at times. ....

Ms Hoff said the skies would be quite clear with few clouds to trap heat but minimal wind around. She said the period from about 4am to sunrise would be the coldest part of the coming days. There s cold air coming up from NSW as well, she said. Rainfall could return to the Sunshine Coast by Monday with widespread falls of 5mm forecast.
