The Pueblo Police Department is investigating a highway death from Monday s early hours as a homicide. About 4:38 a.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to the U.S. Highway 50 bypass westbound from Bonforte Boulevard for a reported traffic crash involving a motorcyclist. At about the same time, police received a call for shots fired near the intersection of the bypass and Hudson Avenue. According to police, once on scene officers determined there had not been a crash, but the motorcycle driver had suffered a gunshot wound which appeared to have caused his death, although medical attention was provided immediately. This shut the highway down for several hours as it was investigated, reopening at about 9 a.m. ....
A Pueblo homicide suspect was apprehended by the Arapahoe County Sheriff s Office late Monday night. Kevin Woodard, 28, is now in police custody after he was sought on an active arrest warrant on suspicion of first-degree murder, a Class 1 felony, in connection with a Sunday shooting in Pueblo. Pueblo Police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Berkley Avenue at 2:47 a.m. Sunday for reported a shooting report early Sunday morning, and discovered a male gunshot victim in front of a residential home. Despite medical attention performed on-scene, the victim died at the residence from an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. ....
