MANILA - President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has named new appointees at the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), on its official Facebook page, released Wednesday the names of the new set of officials appointed by Marcos. Based on the list, Paz Benavidez II was designated as an assistant secretary of the DA, which is currently headed by Marcos. Other newly appointed DA officials were Honorio Flameno, Fernando Flores, Maria Christine Inting, Roland Tulay who will be holding the Director IV rank, as well as Reynaldo Campomanes who will serve as Director III. The DA is the government agency primarily responsible for the promotion of agricultural development by providing the policy framework, public investments and support services needed for domestic and export-oriented business enterprises. Updated July 2, 2021 12:36pm A total of 1,282 individuals or 317 families are staying in evacuation centers on Friday after Taal Volcano erupted on Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. But the number could balloon to as many as 14,495 people or 3,523 families due to the risk of the volcano’s ongoing activity, the NDRRMC pointed out. Based on the agency s 5 a.m. report on Friday, a total of 1,392 individuals or 345 families were affected by the explosion, including the 110 people or 28 families staying outside evacuation centers. The rest were being accommodated in 11 evacuation centers.
