GHAZIABAD: From community kitchens, health check up booths and libraries to a salon and a laundry, in the past three months, the UP Gate protest site has seen several arrangements being made to sustain the agitation. Now, it also has a school.
The need to set up a classroom was felt late last month when women and children came to the protest site in large numbers before the January 26 rally.
“The sight of children playing here the whole day affected me. I spoke to their parents and asked them why they brought the children to the protest. The most common answer I got was that there was no one else at home to take care of them,” said Mahendra Yadav, a social activist from Madhya Pradesh who has been camping at UP Gate for some time. ....
