Montana man dead after vehicle falls through lake ice Associated Press Updated at Share This Stock image BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A Montana man is dead after falling through the ice on a lake. Four ice fishermen were crossing Fort Peck Lake in two small off-road vehicles Saturday night when one vehicle fell through and sank, according to Petroleum County Sheriff Bill Cassell. One man in the vehicle escaped and his companions pulled him to safety. The other man, Roger F. Schaad, 72, of Rexford, drowned, the Billings Gazette reported. His body was recovered at 11:30 p.m. in what Cassell called “a very dangerous mission.”

Man who died after UTV fell through ice into Fort Peck Lake has been identified MTN NEWS and last updated 2021-01-18 16:48:06-05 (UPDATE, 2:43 p.m.) RJ Brown, the Petroleum County Coroner, said on Monday afternoon that the man who died has been identified as Roger F. Schaad of Rexford, Montana, and formerly of Shepherd, Montana. Schaad was 72 years old. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19th, in Billings with the State Medical Examiner to officially determine the cause and manner of death. (1st REPORT, 8:42 a.m.) The Petroleum County Sheriff s Office has confirmed that a man drowned in Fort Peck Lake on Saturday.
