Woman dies after late-night shooting near Salisbury

Updated: 12:48 PM EDT May 19, 2021 SALISBURY, N.C. The Rowan County Sheriff s Office has launched a murder investigation after a woman died of a gunshot wound Tuesday night. According to deputies, a Rowan County EMS unit was approached by a man in a black pickup truck after they responded to an unrelated medical call along Gheen Road near Salisbury around 10:45 p.m. The man told EMS workers he had a woman in his car parked outside a house down the road with a gunshot wound. Personnel then made their way to the woman to treat her, but the man left the scene in his truck. Paramedics quickly loaded the woman into an ambulance and took her to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation is underway after a woman was shot in the driveway of a Salisbury home Tuesday night. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Gheen Road residence around 10:45 p.m. after a report of a gunshot victim at the location. Officers said 33-year-old April Whitley and at least two other people pulled into the driveway of the home and upon exiting the vehicle someone jumped out of a nearby ditch and started shooting. Whitley was then struck in the right side of her chest.

(WBTV) - Deputies in Rowan County are looking for a man they say stole $10,000 worth of copper wire. According to the report, the copper was taken from a location on Recovery Road on Monday, March 1. RCSO Detective Shoemaker was able to obtain a photo from Lane Construction that show a person of interest. Trio arrested after 93-year-old man violently attacked in home invasion WSOCTV.com News Staff UP NEXT Deputies said all three people responsible for attacking a 93-year-old Rowan County man during a home invasion last month have been arrested. According to deputies, paramedics were called to Thomas Eller’s house on Little Crane Cove in Salisbury for what they thought involved him falling in his home. When they got there, first responders said Eller told them that he had been attacked. He said that he went to let his dog out at around 11:45 p.m. and when he opened his back door, he was immediately attacked by two white men wearing masks.

(WBTV) - On December 6, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a breaking and entering that occurred at the Old Carolina Brick Company near Gold Hill. Damages to building totaled more than $885,000. More than $850,000 worth of equipment was taken, including a crusher motor, wiring, a forklift, Caterpillar loader, distribution boxes, PVC membranes, and dryer trays.
