Blumenauer seeks fed funds to stop carnage on 181st Avenue

The Democratic congressman who grew up in Portland is well known for displaying a fluorescent bike pin on his jacket lapel. Blumenauer has described himself as aggressively bike partisan, and helped form the congressional bike caucus upon arriving in Washington D.C. in 1996 when he was first elected.
So it was no surprise the elected official was prominently displaying a bright orange bicycle pin as he toured a dangerous Gresham corridor in desperate need of safety improvements. ....

The Daily Journal of Commerce has announced its Building Diversity honorees for 2021. The recognition and education program celebrates and examines diversity, equity and inclusion within the local building industry and environment. The following companies, organizations, projects, initiatives and individuals are being recognized.
GeoEngineers. The firm “has developed a robust inclusive contracting program that offers opportunities, support and partnerships with COBID firms,” according to the nomination.
Perlo Construction. The firm “has a long history of providing opportunities to the COBID community,” and “through the leadership of Todd Duwe … has played a major role in offering development support and education,” according to the nomination. ....
