Overlook Produce and Farm Adventures will invest more than $850,000 to build a new produce packing facility and retail market pavilion in Rockingham County.
The company’s new facility, located off Interstate 81’s Exit 240, will feature seasonally available fruits, vegetables, meats, honey, baked goods, flowers and seafood.
The project will create six new jobs, and all net new purchases will be 100 percent sourced from Virginia farm families and watermen. ....

RICHMOND Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Smiley’s Ice Cream, a producer of premium, homemade-style ice cream, will build a new ice cream manufacturing facility and retail store in Rockingham County, investing more than $1.15 million and creating eight new jobs. As part of this expansion, the locally-owned company will source an additional 18,000 gallons of Virginia-produced dairy and an additional 2,500 pounds of Virginia-grown fruits over the next three years.

Industrial hemp company to invest $3.3 million to establish facility in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (WHSV/Office of Gov. Northam Press Release) — According to a press release from Governor Ralph Northam’s office, Shenandoah Valley Hemp, LLC, doing business as Pure Shenandoah, will invest nearly $3.3 million to establish an industrial hemp fiber processing and cannabidiol oil extraction facility in the Town of Elkton.
The release says the company will create 24 new jobs and will purchase 100 percent of its industrial hemp from Virginia growers. The release says this will result in nearly $5 million in payments to Virginia farmers over the next three years. ....
