It’s not the first time her mum has taken time out “to clear her head”, but, as the hours turn into days, Rocks’ worries mount. Even calling her grandmother in Lagos fails to shed any light – or offer any hope, with granny simply offering the observation that “some women are not cut out for motherhood”, before complaining that, “for all she knows, I could be lying in a gutter”. Then comes the kicker, the power goes out and Rocks can’t find any more money around the house. With her troubles weighing heavily on her mind, she begins to attract trouble at school, eschewing her usual close-knit group of friends for new girl Roshe (Shaneigha-Monik Greyson). Bunking off from class, the pair hook up with some older boys, who take them to a penthouse one claims is his uncle’s. That’s when temptation gets the better of Rocks and her downward spiral reaches its nadir as she resorts to extreme measures to try and keep Emmnauel and herself together.
