Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Dec 31, 2020 6:32 AM A Stanley County resident and avid user of the Rawlins Municipal Library in Pierre wants to give the gift of a library card to eligible residents who may not be able to afford the $35 fee. Clark Stone says he will purchase a library card for anyone living in rural Hughes or Stanley Counties who needs the financial assistance. He says he’s happy to pay the fee to spread the love of reading. Library cards are complimentary to anyone living in Pierre or Fort Pierre because the both towns provide funds for Rawlins Library. However, people living outside city limits in either community aren’t eligible for a complimentary card. ....
Beginning Jan. 2, the Rawlins Municipal Library will open its doors a little more. The Library is adjusting its weekday schedule and adding to its weekend hours. According to Library Director Robin Schrupp, the changes are all to better accommodate customer traffic. “We have found that by 10 a.m., we have people waiting outside to get in,” said Schrupp. “There’s no sense making them wait, we’ll just open our doors an hour earlier.” On the back end, it means the library will also close its doors a little sooner in the evening. In the new year, the library will close at 8 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. on most week nights. ....
