The Polish veteran Stefan Hula won the first of two competitions of the Continental Cup in Brotterode (GER) on Saturday evening.
The 34-year-old was already in the best in the first round with 113 m, he then secured the narrow win with the longest jump of the day of 115.5 m in the final and 269.9 points. The Pole stood on top of the podium in the COC for the third time in his career today and for the first time since February 2013.
Austria s Markus Schiffner, who won both competitions last weekend in Klingenthal, was second this evening. With 113 m and 112 m and a total of 269.3 points he came in close behind Stefan Hula.

Markus Schiffner was the best ski jumper of the Continental Cup in Klingenthal. The Austrian could claim the win in both competitions in the Vogtland-Arena this weekend.
After his win on Saturday, the 28-year-old Austrian was the best athlete in both rounds on Sunday and took his fifth win in the COC with jumps of 141.5 m and 137.5 m and a total of 292.1 points.
Slovenia s Cene Prevc could also prove his currently very strong shape again. With 139 m and 137.5 m and 277.6 points repeated his second place from yesterday and was now on the podium in four of the last six competitions.
Like on Friday, two competitions were held also on Saturday at the Continental Cup in Willingen. Due to the bad weather forecast, Sunday s competition was rescheduled. And just like on Friday, Ulrich Wohlgenannt was also the outstanding athlete on the Muehlenkopf-hill on Saturday.
After his two wins on Friday, the 24-year-old was able to prolong his winning streak on Saturday. The Austrian won the first competition in the morning with jumps of 141.5 m and 145 m and a total of 274.6 points.
Cene Prevc presented himself in strong shape after his Corona-quarantine recently and after he finished third and eighth yesterday, the Slovene was second in this competition with 136 m and 143.5 m and 254.5 points.
In the second competition of the Continental Cup in Ruka (FIN) on Saturday afternoon, Jan Hoerl was able to confirm his strong performance from the first competition of the weekend and claimed his first-ever win in the COC.
The 22-year-old, who was second yesterday only behind his teammate Stefan Rainer, laid the foundation for this success in the first round with the longest jump of the competitions of 137 m. In the final round, the Austrian again had the longest jump with 132 m and won with 288.2 points.
The second place went to Jakub Wolny of Poland with 128.5 m and 130 m and a total of 272.0 points. Together with Wolny, Maciej Kot in fourth and Pawel Wasek in sixth provided for a very strong team result of the Poles.
With three competitions in Ruka, in the far north of Finland, the Continental Cup starts its 2020/21 season this weekend. The first win this winter on Friday evening went to Austria s Stefan Rainer.
In difficult and changing wind conditions on the Rukatunturi-hill, the 21-year-old showed two consistent jumps of 134 m and 138.5 m and claimed the first win of his career in the Continental Cup with a total of 276.9 points. The best result of the Austrian so far was the fifth place in Wisla in September. The hill is very cool, I love it here. It s my first victory in COC, I m speechless. Tomorrow s conditions seem pretty good. I will do my best to achieve a good result tomorrow , said the Austrian.
