Once upon a time, Republicans were willing to spend money to do things for the good of all Americans. In a two-year period, they passed the Homestead Act offering to every American 160 acres to build on and cultivate and the Land Grant College Act establishing colleges across the country, including the University of New Hampshire.
They also got the transcontinental railroad started. And they did all this while fighting the Civil War. Yes, all that happened in 1862 to 1863. Now Republicans just help rich people get more money for themselves. Wouldn t it be great to have some of those Republicans of old around now? ....
