The mother of a young Windsor man who died after accessing illegal drugs inside the South West Detention Centre said the family is “devastated,” and she asks how the correctional facility could have failed her son who has had opiate addiction issues.
“There’s just a sense of relief when he goes to jail, and you think everyone is safe that wasn’t the case here,” Kathryn Krug told the Star Friday. ....

Less than two weeks after being arrested and charged with attempted murder, a young Windsor man is dead following a fatal drug overdose while in custody at the South West Detention Centre.
Nathaniel Krug, 21, and a cellmate overdosed on the powerful opiate fentanyl on Wednesday, the Windsor Star has learned. Both were rushed to Windsor Regional Hospital but only one of the men survived.
