here in uvalde. they are heroes. they did heroic things yesterday, and they are always very humble, but they are truly humbled heroes. yesterday we lost two teachers. these two teachers i would say are the corner stone of that campus to some great degree. they were two beautiful souls. they had taught on that campus for many years. they have kids in our district, and they poured their heart and soul into what they did in educating our kids in uvalde. 19 students, 19 precious students who came to school yesterday to enjoy the day, to enjoy the awards assembly, and as i look at their pictures, you can just tell by their angelic smile that they were loved, that they loved coming to school, and they were just precious individuals. this is a difficult time for everybody. we are hurting. we have been cut deep here in our community. we will move forward. it s going to take some time moving forward. our faith has been shaken. we ask you to continue to pray for these families, t ....
john: fox team coverage from across the country. bill will begin things for us on the ground in uvalde, texas for us. our coverage continues. bill. bill: sandra, a lot of conflicting reporting whether or not there was a school police officer on campus when the shooting took place. texas d.p.s. tells me there was a school officer on campus who exchanged gunfire with this gunman. i m told that the officer was shot and injured and that is when the shooter ran inside the school, got into a classroom, barricaded himself and started shooting in discrimnatly, shows the 18-year-old local resident armed with the rifle going into the school. he shot his grandmother in the face a short time before this, then drove to the school, crashed his car, got out, apparently engaged in gunfire with the school officer, hurt him, went inside, then committed this heinous shooting. take a listen to the 911 dispatch audio. all units stand by. bill: if you look at video of children evac ....

the killer exchanged gunfire with police wounding two officers before being shot and killed by law enforcement. the 18-year-old used a rifle to carry out the nation s deadliest school attack in a decade. these photos were posted to an instagram account linked to it. one of his social media posts read, quote, kids be scared. a fire fighter on the scene says the gunman was inside that school for about 30 minutes before law enforcement ended the siege. to figure he was in there for so long in that classroom and the officers initially on scene couldn t do anything. well, you got to take into account when you have someone with this intent to just kill anybody, have no regard for human life and also with a rifle, he can kill numerous people in a matter of seconds. so those officers were able to respond at a moment s notice. there could have been further loss of life if they weren t on scene to break those windows and rescue any children and teachers inside that classroom. ....
A few announcements that we need to make is, beginning tomorrow at 10am, we will have grief counselling and support at the civic centre for our students, our staff, community members, anybody that needs to come at that time. and we may be there more than one day, we may be there several days. 0ur robb staff will meet at 8am at the civic centre, as well, and we will begin visiting with them and seeing what those needs are. school will be closed. the school year is done. we will have no school tomorrow or thursday. all activities are cancelled throughout the district. no graduation is on people s mind. we will come out with a notice on that at a later time. all the staff members, they will report to campuses, other than the robb campus, which will come to the civic centre. again, my heart was broken today. we are a small community and we will need your prayers to get us through this. thank you. ....
