Multiple board members said PSD must look internally at its discipline disparities and practices.
Rob Pettersen, vice president of the board, said he did not see the district as having a problem with SROs, but a problem with how PSD disciplines students: “That is on us and it is up to us to change it. Pettersen, like other directors, said he wants to see improved accountability and the role of SROs to be better defined.
Director Carolyn Reed had similar thoughts, voting to move forward with SROs but noting that the district had “a lot of room for improvement.”
“We do see that a lot of our problems might be self-made and we need to look inward,” Reed said.
