By Olasunkanmi Akoni Lagos State Government has disclosed a partnership with Ecobank Nigeria Plc, to intervene in the artisanal fisheries value chain in order to enhance the standard of living in the fishing communities in the area of the state. The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya who disclosed this on Tuesday, explained that the intervention becomes imperative particularly as artisanal fisheries involves various small-scale, low-technology, low-capital fishing practices undertaken mainly by individual households who use a relatively small amount of capital and energy, making short fishing trips mainly for local consumption. Olusanya added that the intervention would therefore enable the artisanal fisher folks and communities to access funds that could be used to provide fishing boats and equipment for the youth in order to enhance their standard of living and improve their businesses. ....
#EndSARS Protests: We froze accounts of companies not individuals – Chief Judge, FHC On By Ikechukwu Nnochiri, Abuja Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, on Tuesday, said it was not true that the court intentionally froze accounts of promoters of the recent #EndSARS protest. Justice Tsoho stressed that contrary to media reports, the court froze accounts of some corporate entities the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, accused of sabotaging the country’s economy. He spoke during a special court session the High Court held to mark the commencement of its 2020/2021 legal year.
