Three Rivers Fire winding down, 30% contained and 7,033 acres
The Three Rivers Fire that began April 26 was 30% contained on Wednesday as precipitation moved into the area and cool weather prevailed in Lincoln County. 
The Three Rivers Fire fire was reported to be consuming 7,033 acres as of 8 a.m. on May 5.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
It s pretty much winding down at this point, we re seeing less heat when they do reconnaissance flights which is good news, Lincoln National Forest spokeswoman Laura Rabon said.
(We re) a little concerned about the south side so (Tuesday) they sent two crews down and they re going to send one crew right above the perimeter line and one crew down to straddle the southern border of the fire. ....

Three Rivers Fire in Lincoln National Forest shrinks amid showers


The Three Rivers Fire was 13 percent contained and at about 5,557 acres per this morning s Lincoln National Forest update.
Rain fell in the area near Ruidoso where the fire was burning on Thursday, assisting crews in fighting the blaze. 
U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell visited Lincoln County Thursday for a briefing on the fire and efforts to contain it. 
In a statement posted on Facebook on April 26, when the fire was first detected about three miles from the Three Rivers Campground in Lincoln National Forest, Herrell urged anyone in the area to heed warnings from officials. 
My staff and I are closely monitoring the Three Rivers Fire and staying in regular contact with the USDA, USFS, state, and local officials, Herrell said in the post.  ....

Thursday Three Rivers Fire Updates: Precipitation slowing fire


3:30 p.m. update
Due to slowed fire activity, the Lincoln National Forest will only post one major update per day with smaller ones throughout as the need arises
12:15 p.m. update
Three Rivers Fire has had no growth on either Wednesday or Thursday, according the noon Lincoln National Forest Three Rivers Fire update.
The fire remains at 12,000 acres and is still 5% contained.
No structures have reportedly burned so far.
Increased moisture and humidity have slowed spread through grasses; dead and downed fuel is currently smoldering, the update states. Fire activity is expected to increase later in the day and wind direction is expected to shift, blowing the fire back onto already burned areas. ....

El Pasoans Should Avoid The Ruidoso Area As Wildfire Burns On

According to forestry officials, the fire broke out on Monday near the Three Rivers Campground, spreading almost to Ski Apache and into the Big Bonito area. Overnight into Tuesday, the fire doubled in size, spreading across 12,000 acres onto Mescalero Apache Tribal Land.
Last night the crew got some help thanks to Mother Nature as snow and rain fell in the area and are expecting more of the same conditions throughout today.
Over 200 crew personnel have been onsite attempting to extinguish the flames and are set to receive additional resources to help combat the fire. ....
