MRWC Announces Three Fairfield Cleanups Written by Mill River Wetland Committee
Fairfield, CT - Mill River Wetland Committee (MRWC) announces 3 Fairfield cleanups as part of their 2021 celebration of Earth Month. MRWC and Action Waste have partnered with organizations across the spectrum of Fairfield’s environmental advocacy groups to offer opportunities for citizens of all ages to combat plastic litter, including the increased use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks, wipes, and gloves to combat Covid-19.
Event co-sponsors Fairfielders Protecting Land and Neighborhoods (FairPLAN), Leaders for Environmental Action at Fairfield University (LEAF), Sustainable Fairfield Students (SFS), and Sustainable Youth Connecticut (SYCT) each represent environmental action-oriented citizens within our community. Environmental Concerns RE Aquarion Plan to Divert Bpt System Water Written by Carol Barrios
Fairfield, CT - Mill River Wetland Committee (MRWC) announced it has filed for Intervenor status, along with the Town of Fairfield, and other environmental advocacy groups in response to Aquarion Water’s application to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) seeking approval to transfer up to 14.2 million gallons of water per day for 25 years from its Greater Bridgeport System to lower Fairfield County. If approved, this would double the water volume Aquarion currently diverts to those towns from Greater Bridgeport through their Southwest Regional Pipeline.
