The Lancet report states that 2023 has already turned out to be the hottest year on record. And now, each year sees an increase in the number of heat-related deaths.
New projections reveal that heat-related deaths are projected to increase 370% if the rise in temperature reaches 2 degrees Celsius by mid-century. As per the report, dengue illness is projected to increase by up to 37%. Health-related labour loss is projected to rise by 50% and 524.9 million additional people are projected to experience moderate to severe food insecurity.
