16 arrested, more than 700 stolen cattle returned in Lakes State Authorities in Lakes State of South Sudan have apprehended 16 criminals and returned more than 700 stolen cattle to their rightful owners in Lakes since last week. The police chief inspector in Alualuak Payam of Yirol West County Michael Mayor Malaak told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that 14 suspected cattle raiders and two suspected killers are being held at the Baburzeet prison. Mayor said the two, identified as Laat Makoon Kuany and Kot Kau Chiewer, have been arrested over the murder of a soldier identified only as Panchol. We have 16 criminals, 14 cattle raiders, and two accused of killing a soldier. All of them are now in custody and investigations into the murder of the soldier is ongoing, he added. ....

13 dead, 16 wounded in S.Sudan clashes Mon, Jun 14 2021 11:29:24 AM Juba, Jun 14 (IANS): Inter-communal clashes have left 13 people killed and 16 others injured in South Sudan s restive region of Lakes state, local police said. Elijah Mabor Makuach, police spokesperson in the state, said on Sunday they have deployed soldiers to restore calm following fighting which started on Saturday between the Gony and Theyieth communities. The fighting started on Saturday morning leading to 13 people killed and 16 wounded. The situation is now calm following the deployment of security forces, Makuach told Xinhua news agency. He disclosed that the two communities have for a decade been fighting each other. ....
