Kids Good Grief Camp A supportive and fun camp for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the death of a loved one. Here they can share their experiences with other children, break down the isolation barrier and head towards an individual healing journey. Cost is $10 and scholarships are available. Register by April 1.
Walk to End Alzheimer's Hosted by the Alzheimer's Association. All funds raised by 2-mile event further the care, support and research efforts of the association. Free to register. Those raising $100 receive T-shirt.
Back-to-school brunch Benefits Compass for Kids which provides academic and social-emotional support for underserved children and families. Celebrates strides students have made over the previous year and summer. Buffet, live music, guest speaker, art auction and more.
"Classics, Chaos & Culture" A fine art and fashion exhibit. This year will showcase Michelle Smith's 18-month-long work on her last Ralph Lauren collaboration ("The Ride"). Her portfolio of fashion ideas will be on display as they were brainstormed, designed, and placed on items by hand. Also showcased are new two-dimensional pieces that express the chaos and culture of art and life in general. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Tickets at the door are an additional $5. A portion of ticket sales go toward the purchase of art supplies for young artists in need. A Century of Service Banquet Celebrate the Kiwanis Club of Springfield-Downtown's 100 years of service in central Illinois. Dinner includes a buffet with roast pork loin and encrusted parmesan chicken breast, accompaniments and dessert.
