Coventry is assessing the feasibility of Scalextric-style technology that would charge electric vehicles (EVs) as they go. Known as dynamic wireless charging (DWC), the technology would ensure an uninterrupted power supply for EVs while in motion. The £419,000 DynaCov project, backed by Coventry City Council, Toyota, National Express, and others, would see electric coils embedded under asphalt on certain stretches of the city s roads. These coils, which would be connected to a mains supply, would wirelessly transmit power to a receiver in vehicles wheels. Electricity would then be relayed from the receiver to the EV s battery, providing it with a continuous source of power while in motion. ....
