battling senator rand paul and it s getting nasty. in fact, really nasty. governor perry firing the first shot accusing senator paul blind threat poses to the united states. now senator rand paul firing back. governor perry dead wrong in mischaracterizing him. joining us our political panel. rick klein. the washington post rick lowery and the hill s justin cink. rick, it doesn t get more interesting than this. this battle. this is the most basic level of political warfare. it s a stand in for the larger debates going on inside the republican party right now. you have rand paul who is talking maybe to a larger swath of americans. including some republicans but a lot of independents maybe democrats talking about noninterventionism what critics would call isolationism. wait, the man tell of ronald reagan i represented that more. i am telling you now we can t be soft on national defense. we will see this play out. rand paul will be jousting owith almost everyone. that may be his bigges
with him. first of all. i thought it was a general smear when he says if you are opposed to me. some of the opposition to the president and myself comes from racial animus. well, who is the some? i mean, by being so inspecific anybody owe opposes president obama and the attorney general is guilty of racial animus. i think this is very dangerous territory. when those democrats wept out and and attacked attorney general of the united states. it was out of racial animus? including was that out of racial animus. dismiss by simply saying they were being critical of these individuals because of racial heritage? this is really bad. the attorney general s conduct and the president s policies and his conduct. just smear them by saying some people engage in criticism out of racial animus. he did sort of down play and say i don t think this is a main driver. i mean, he didn t dismiss it totally. i think to myself do i do that on sexism? either be specific or don t bring it up. this
