UPDATE: Suspect dead after police shooting in New Berlin last month
57-year-old Michael P. Wolski of New Berlin passed away on July 2 from his injuries.
Wolski allegedly confronted New Berlin Police officer Rick Helm at a parking lot on South Moorland Road near West Pleasant Drive on June 22, 2021.
Officer Helm was responding to a 911 call regarding a person with a gun, and ended up confronting Wolski, where Helm fired his weapon and injured Wolski. Responding officers treated Wolski before he was taken to a hospital for more treatment.
Officer Helm, who has 20 years of experience in law enforcement, is on administrative leave pending an investigation.

NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Saturday, July 3 announced that the man shot by a New Berlin police officer last month has died of his injuries.
The man, identified by the DOJ as 57-year-old Michael Wolski of New Berlin, was armed during the June 22 incident near Moorland and Pleasant.
Authorities say a person called 911 to report a man with a gun in the area. Investigation revealed Wolski himself was the 911 caller.
A New Berlin police officer was parked in a parking lot in the area when dispatch received the call, reporting the armed man at the same location.
