NEMRR ended the 2023 season with the strongest rider turnout the organization has had for a standard (non-Loudon Classic) event since it took the reins over from New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2020. Participation was excellent across all divisions of racing, with particularly strong fields in the popular lightweight and ultralight classes. NEMRR’s stated goal of making the series a family-friendly organization was on full display on Saturday night when the traditional Saturday night barbeque turned into an early Halloween trick-or-treat, costume contest, and scavenger hunt across the paddock. Near perfect weather on both days provided a fantastic backdrop for both the double-points finale and the NEMM races that followed the conclusion of racing on Sunday. NEMM, which is run by NEMRR regular Sergio Dimoffetta, offered is focused on youth riders and gave free entries in 2023 to kids as young as four years old who wanted to experience riding at NHMS. NEMRR Round 6 - New Hampshire Motor Speedway, September 9-10 The penultimate round of the 2023 NEMRR series marked the return of several top riders who has been away preparing and competing at MotoAmerica events. The two-day event was run under a variety of weather conditions that produced some exciting racing that saw some new faces on top of the podium in several classes. NEMRR also had the opportunity to honor the memory of long time competitor and NEMRRR/LRRS official Larry Hanlon. Larry was a tenacious racer who raced at the club level for many years, as well as competing in some national level events. He was a pioneer bike builder and changed the landscape of lightweight racing in New England as he built the first “motard” machines using the venerable CR500 engine, which he both ran in the dirt bike chassis and grafted into the frames of Grand Prix machines. Larry was paralyzed in a racing incident but
NEMRR Round 5 was held at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on August 19-20 under near-perfect conditions on both days. The paddock was a little lighter than usual due to the conflicting MotoAmerica event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, which drew away a number of regular NEMRR participants to PA to either compete, crew, or spectate. The absence of these riders, combined with a few others who were sitting out due to injury, left the fields wide open in several classes. Also of note for this weekend was the return of NEMRR Executive Director John Grush, who had a medical emergency at the NEMRR round just two weeks ago. Grush was greeted with a warm reception during the riders meeting on Saturday where the crowd was glad to see him back on his feet again. The Expert races started the weekend off with Brett Guyer and his Seacoast Sport Cycle Aprilia RS 660 picking up where they left off last round
Two days of sunshine and perfect New Hampshire summer temperatures were a welcome sight for riders in Round 4 of the 2023 NEMRR series, who were coming off a long six-week break following the 100th Loudon Classic. The exceptional forecast led to full grids all weekend long across all classes August 5-6 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. A bright spot before the event was the overwhelming support of the NEMRR riders for the series as a whole. The 100th Loudon Classic was a landmark event with a record-breaking purse, top level talent from MotoAmerica and a fantastic turnout from New England racing enthusiasts who have been part of the regional racing scene dating all the way back to the 1960s. There were hundreds of faces who had not visited NHMS in years and helped to make the 100th Classic the special gathering it was designed to be. The motorcycle community as a whole has rallied behind the organization, as an
