Accident south of Quesnel results in fuel going into Cuisson Creek

A single-vehicle accident on Highway 97 south of Quesnel ended with some fuel being spilled into Cuisson Creek.
RCMP Sergeant Richard Weseen told Vista Radio a transport truck lost control and went off the road at around 8-45 this morning (Monday) in the Alexandria area.
“A transport truck was traveling south on Highway 97 near Church Road when his trailer jackknifed, crossed the center line, and entered the ditch on the east side. The truck went approximately 200 meters down a steep embankment before colliding with a tree.” ....

A semi driver had a lucky escape this morning, Jan. 25, when his truck jackknifed and slid 200 metres down a steep embankment near Quesnel.
The semi-truck – which appeared to be carrying a load of Tim Horton s coffee – crossed the centerline and came off the highway before sliding the 200 metres and colliding with a tree. The impact caused the fuel tank to rupture and leaked diesel into the Bonaparte River.
According to a Quesnel RCMP media release the incident took place on Highway 97, near Church Road, Quesnel, at around 8:45 a.m. Jan. 25.
The truck and trailer did not roll over and the driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries by ambulance. ....

Pedestrian killed after being hit by vehicle on Interior highway
Police are investigating following the death of a woman on the Barkerville Highway this week.
According to Quesnel RCMP, the road was shut down for several hours on Tuesday while police investigated a motor vehicle incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident, occurred shortly after 7 pm when a privately-owned sand truck was driving east on the road.
It then struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound near Drummond Road. the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the accident, the roads were wet due to light rain and there was no artificial lighting, said Sgt. Richard Weseen. Witnesses reported that they had to swerve to avoid the female just prior to the collision. ....
