Goshen man killed when snowmobile crashes into reservoir | NewsRadio 1450/1370 WKIP

GOSHEN – A 56-year-old Goshen man was killed Monday evening when the snowmobile he was on crashed into the Goshen Reservoir. Another man with him was taken to Garnet Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for treatment.
Goshen Village Police Chief James Watt identified the victim as Arne Jensen, 56, of Orange Avenue. He was rescued from the reservoir by the Goshen Fire Department Cold Water Rescue Team and was transported to Garnet where he was pronounced dead.
The other man, Richard Stetson, 55, of Reservoir Road in Goshen, was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition, according to the chief. ....

Hudson Valley Sees Substantial Snowfall, Clearing Out Could Take A Few Days

Much of the WAMC listening area spent today digging out from Monday’s massive snowstorm. The Hudson Valley was among the areas with the greatest snowfall, and municipalities will be cleaning up for at least a few days.
Stephen DiRienzo is a National Weather Service meteorologist out of Albany.
“Well, the eastern Catskills had some big numbers; up in the mountains we saw some totals close to 2 feet,” DiRienzo says. “Also the Mid-Hudson Valley, again, probably in the 18-24-inch range there as well, and then over into the Litchfield Hills where up to 18 inches was reported.”
He says the eastern Catskill Mountains had some two feet as of mid-morning, and could add another 4-to-6 inches by tonight, taking them to the around 30-inch-mark. The Albany National Weather Service office covers as far south as portions of Dutchess County, and DiRienzo says Fishkill reported 25.6 inches and the same for Saugerties, in Ulster County. Man Dies After Snowmobile Accident On Frozen Reservoir In Area

One man was killed and another injured after a snowmobile smashed through the ice and fell into the water of an area reservoir.
Shortly after the incident took place around 5:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1, in Orange County, Sergeant James Bodisch and Trooper Ryan Stutz responded to Reservoir Road in the town of Goshen for a report of a snowmobile accident with injuries, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
Upon arrival, Bodisch and Stutz found an individual in the woods. He was later identified as Richard Stetson, age 55, of Goshen. 
Troopers immediately assessed the situation and with the assistance of EMS personnel, provided first aid and placed Stetson on a backboard, and transported him to a waiting ambulance, Nevel said. ....

A 56-year-old New York man died in a snowmobile accident Monday when the sled he and another man were riding on broke through the ice on Orange County s Goshen Reservoir and fell into the water, State Police said Tuesday.
Two State Police troopers responding to a call about an accident in Goshen around 5:30 p.m. Monday spotted a man, later identified as Richard Stetson, in the woods. He was put on a backboard and taken via ambulance to a hospital. ....
