The pair worked on the track over a year ago before they released its video on Jan 30, 2020. It has since been viewed over 3.4 million times and was acclaimed as one of the best collaborations of last year. ‘Yes Bana’ also scored a marketing campaign by one of the leading telcos in the county, earning millions in licensing fees. Speaking on Cleaning the Airwaves (CTA), Bien told Richard Njau alias A-Star that Khaligraph sent him part of the song’s revenue as a token of appreciation. ....

YouTube Introduces New Tax on Kenyan Content Creators Kenyan YouTubers Abel Mutua, Betty Kyalo and Njugush File YouTube has announced plans to deduct United States (U.S) taxes from payments made to all creators including those who live outside the region. The new tax is set to affect Kenyan content creators, most of whom have continued to rake in millions as online content consumption hit a crescendo during this pandemic period. One of the email sent to the content creators in Kenya read thus: “We are reaching out because Google will be required to deduct U.S. taxes from payments to creators outside the U.S later this year (as early as June 2021). Over the next few weeks, we’ll be asking you to submit your tax info in AdSense to determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct, if any apply. If your tax info isn’t provided by May 31st,2021, Google may be required to deduct up to 24% of your total earnings worldwide,” the e-mail read. ....

Speaking exclusively to Pulse, the soft-spoken event organiser now says he is flying into his country Kenya’s dancehall star Redsan on Valentine’s Day. “Redsan is a seasoned artist with a huge following in South Sudan. We look forward to hosting him on Valentine’s Day,” he said. Also in the list is young Jamaican star Koffee. “We are in talks and will reveal the date once all documents are signed.” Word reaching us is that Wizkid could make it to Juba as well. “We can’t reveal much, time will tell, but be sure to adapt to Juba as the leading entertainment hub,” he boasted. ....
