here s why. the system bearing down on us expected to bring our first significant rainfall since. we have live team coverage for you. jeff ranieri has been tracking the storm for days now. let s talk when we ll see it. over the next two to three hours we ll begin to see the rainfall develop into the north bay. right now the storm system itself is off to the north with the heavier pockets of rainfall. but it is beginning to spread cloud cover from san francisco down san jose. we have moved storm ranger into the south bay. it s located at mt. allison. we ll be able to pick up this rainfall as it moves into the north bay. san francisco and the east way through tomorrow morning. speak of which, i want to get you a sneak peek at the timeline. you can see by 12:30, spotty showers here, middletown to cal stowga, down to pain reyes. this is what we re worried at 8:00 a.m. anyone. marin, napa, sonoma county dealing with heavier rainfall. a slow push to the south though. still may
team coverage of this storm since 4:30. this mid day we have even more angles covered. man of the hour is our meteorologist who has been using our newest piece of weather technology to track that storm. yeah in fact we re showing you all morning the storm ranger how it is scanning the skies and showing those rain droplets on our lens. look at the rain fall. in san francisco we didn t have as impressive amounts still a little more than a quarter inch and near soma about a quarter inch there. and near sfsu a little bit more than a quarter as well. down the peninsula not as much half moon bay less than a quarter of inch. there it is, tracking the rain making its way to the inner bay and will pull south into the south bay as we make our way home for the rush hour commute. this is just the first system of a series of two headed our ways over the next couple days. let s talk now about our newest technology storm ranger. there it is sitting a top mt. allison looking all good in it

help us better cover round two of the storm and speaking of which, here s a live look at our doppler radar. notice the red beam of storm ranger tracking the lower level activity, especially at this minute in the south bay. good morning, and thanks for joining us. i m garvin thomas with anthony slaughter with a look at the forecast and what i understand about storm ranger and where we have it placed is with that radar gives us is a coverage at the lower elevations that all the other radars don t. yeah, and it s a dual polarized radar too so it scans out to the atmosphere and the radius, three dimensionally, vertically and down. so you get every angle covered in the atmosphere and i mean we get a science forecast. and that s how the radar scans, just goes straight out so you get the three dimensional dual polarized radar and it scans seven times faster than national weather service radar so yes, nbc has invested. it s not a toy. but it s super cool. we are happy to
