i m lauren finch, acting director of the museum. on behalf of all of my library foundation colleagues i thank you for coming this evening. and i d like to extend a warm welcome to those who are joining us online as well. i would also like to acknowledge the deer support of our underwriters for the kennedy library for moms, bank of america, the lowell institute and our media sponsors, boxing glove, xfinity and wbr. richard aldous agreed to sign books, our bookstore has copies of his books available for purchase. this year marks the centennial of the john f. kennedy s birth. as we honor his life and legacy during this centennial year, we cannot be more pleased to explore the life and the birth of our dear schlesinger junior in more detail tonight. i am delighted to introduce theparticipants in tonight s program . we are pleased to welcome richard aldous, author of the new biography schlesinger, imperial historian. he is a professor of history at bard college and the author of 1
that i am one person, that i will live and die alone, that i will only ever inhabit this one consciousness. i was wrong about this too. to read this poem was to be in conversation with a level deeper than who we are, where we are and what our homely words and thoughts and deeds and lives don t mean. still, enduring merit, until this summer did i even believe in it? did i simply believe enduring merit could never be agreed upon, that all things are relative and, therefore, can not be said to have merit and their endurance cannot be predicted? if so, i no longer believe it or even remember believing it. these five radioactive books glowed green and dustless among the others. if they are not still read in 100 years, it will mean the cockroaches only survived whatever happened to vegas. there is always more mystery in a closed box than in an opened box. nope. when it comes to a box full of poetry, that is not true. over the summer those boxes turned into a room full of books fu
young readers, as you said that will come to him and just did really excited about this aggressively complicated work. okay. i think about cognition become especially when you talk about the younger. one of the factors that is important to remember in the digital age which can be very oriented is that when you re learning to read books that are read aloud to less, there is a constant change in the interaction between the reader and the one read too. the one read to is giving a little scam or a little excited. the reader adapts. it s the old story telling. storytelling to an audience, and that is something that the device cannot do. we re learning how to read in need to learn how to understand what is happening, the nuance and the voice that will allow us to go and appreciate the books and taken the information. if you don t get that early on we will be able to have it later. well, these four panelists have made me keep the face. i [applause] wonderful. i wanted thank co
