advocates say there s been a sharp rise into evictions and they accuse landowners of pushing them into an elevated market. reporter: tennants tell us that they are often put in a tough situation if they complain about anything to their land lords, they could be and sometimes are evicted. san jose is under tremendous pressure to do something about no cause evictions, and they re getting support from. tennants and their supporters met in front of city hall to protest what they call unjustified evictions. alma rosa was evicted over her apartment s condition. we had mold a lot and we could smell it and it was making us sick and it had a lot of roaches and the place was not cleaned proper at all. reporter: san jose city leaders don t think tennants should be fearful. we want to take away that fear, because an apartment is a home and people deserve to be able to live in habitable conditions and they should be able to express their concerns without the fear of retaliation.
