The fire is said to have started while students were already in class for morning prep.
Mr Eddie Ssewaje, the LC I chairperson of Nagalabi village and one of the first responders at the scene, told this reporter that the fire started from the two-storied dormitory which hosts senior one and three students at around 6:30 am.
“We saw smoke coming out and we rushed to find out what was happening. We found the building burning. It was so frightening,” Mr Ssewaje said.

Summary
Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located about 176kms North of Kampala City, was established in 2006 as a protected area for re-introduction of the rear White Rhino family that had become extinct in Uganda. The Rhino Sanctuary that sits on a 16,000 acre land is now at the centre of dispute between the family of Capt Joseph Charles Roy who owns the lease and the management of Rhino Fund Uganda.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a home to 33 rhinos re-introduced in Uganda through a breed and release programme supervised by the Uganda Wildlife but managed by the Rhino Fund Uganda in Nakasongola District.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has closed the country’s only wild rhino sanctuary to the public amid an ongoing dispute between the owners of the land and Rhino Fund Uganda – the organisation managing the rhinos. The agency has now taken over the security of the ranch to protect the animals, says the UWA spokesperson, Bashir Hangi. Some 27 people were arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, theft and malicious damage to property after they went to the ranch on 16 April and destroyed office equipment and documents as the dispute over the sanctuary escalated. The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has temporarily closed Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakitoma Sub-county, Nakasongola District, over unending fights between two parties managing the facility.

In a statement issued by Mr Hangi Bashir, the public relations manager of UWA, the authority said in line with their mandate of protecting wildlife resources as per the Uganda Wildlife Act, 2019, they have taken over security of the rhinos at Ziwa sanctuary.
